MetroMeet Privacy Policy

MetroMeet is operated by DirecTek LLC, an Ohio limited liability company based in Columbus, Ohio (contact: [email protected]).

MetroMeet ("we", "us") is a local, adults-only (18+) social app. This policy covers the MetroMeet iOS app and getmetromeet.com.

What we collect

• Account: your email address (or Apple ID sign-in), display name, date of birth. The date itself is never shown to anyone. Your age in years appears next to your name on your profile by default — you can hide it any time in Settings ("Show my age"). Inside Match, age is always shown to other opted-in members (matching is age-based).
• Profile: photo, bio, interests, chosen area.
• Verification selfie: stored privately, used only to verify you're a real person. Never shown on your profile or to other members.
• Content you create: posts, replies, likes, messages, votes, including photos and short videos you record for posts.
• Match data (only if you opt in): gender, who you want to meet, age range.
• Political affiliation (optional): a private self-label. It is never shown to anyone, never used by moderation, and exists only to power the optional both-ways political filter in Settings.
• "Looking for" (optional): a private self-label of what you're open to (friendship, dating, and so on). It is never shown on your profile and exists only to power your optional Match filter.
• Device: push notification token (only if you allow notifications).

What we don't do

• No ads, no selling your data, no data brokers.
• No tracking across other apps or websites.
• No location tracking — you choose your area yourself; the app never reads your device's location.
• No feed algorithm profiling — the wall is chronological.
• Individual poll votes and one-way Match likes are never revealed to anyone.
• Secret Admirer reveals that someone has liked you, never who, until you match. Compliments are delivered anonymously — you're told a neighbor complimented you, never which one.

How it's used

To run the app: showing your area's wall, connecting friends and matches, delivering notifications, enforcing our community guidelines (reports are typically reviewed by a human within 24 hours), and preventing abuse (rate limits, blocks). Emails are sent via Resend (sign-in codes, account notices); push notifications are delivered via Expo's push service.

Storage & security

Data is stored with Supabase (Postgres, US East) with row-level security: your private data (date of birth, political affiliation, messages, votes, likes, selfie) is inaccessible to other members at the database layer. Messages are visible only to the two participants while they remain friends, matched, or in an accepted message-request conversation, and not blocked.

Your controls

Message requests: members you aren't connected to can send you one message request. You see who is asking — their message stays locked until you accept, and declining is never revealed to the sender. Members who set their profile to friends-only can't receive requests from strangers.

Your location: MetroMeet never tracks your device's location. If you choose to enter a ZIP code, it is used only to power your interaction radius (who can appear in Match and send you message requests, in both directions) and is never shown to other members. You can change your area, ZIP, and radius at any time.

Profile visibility (area or friends-only), online-status visibility, age visibility ("Show my age"), keyword muting, the optional political and "looking for" filters, block/mute/report on all content, pause or leave Match any time. You can delete your account and all associated data any time in the app: Settings → Delete my account. Deletion is immediate, permanent, and cascades to your profile, photos, posts, messages, and matches. (You can also email [email protected] and we'll do it for you.)

Age

MetroMeet is for adults 18+. Accounts misrepresenting age are removed.
